Lots to Do

This is Oberlin College in 1913, but it looks just like my driveway.

I just haven't been in a bloggity mood, so I've been working on other things. We're making slow progress on the nursery. Every weekend something happens to put a wrench into our plans. Last weekend it was SNOW. Lots of SNOW. But, we have bought primer, painting materials, crib bedding, a mobile, and some other assorted items. We haven't done anything with any of these supplies, but hey, it's a start.

In the height of the snow storm, I started the Youngling's life book. A life book is like a baby book or scrapbook for an adopted child. It tells the story of the adoption. Mom & Dad's trip to Kaz, what we saw, what we did, what the baby did and ate and liked and didn't like. What the baby house was like. Coming home and meeting the rest of the family. What we know about the baby's birth family. The firsts/milestones we observed and when they took place. This will be a book that we will read to the Youngling right from the beginning. It will be a simple, kid-friendly way of making his adoption a normal and comfortable part of his inner fabric. I've never done a scrapbook before, and I'm basically just winging it. I can't do a whole lot ahead of time, but since I do kind of know how/when things will happen in Kaz, I can sort of create the overall page design and then drop in the text and pics when we get home. Hopefully, I can get a lot done in the six weeks we are home waiting for the Youngling to come home to us.

In other news, Congratulations to Matt & Stefanie on the birth of baby girl Ila!! She is gorgeous. We all waited a LONG time for her to finally be born, and then she made us wait two more weeks past the due date!! :) She was well worth the wait.

I just read the cutest thing EVER on Aliblog. It's something Robey said. He is just the cat's meow.

Looks like your dossier prep is going well. I hope that 171h comes very soon.
