Hola Mis Amigos

Scrapbooking Sampler

This is Alison's "excuse" for infrequent posting.

Robey & Zanna

Sorry to have been away for so long. We're still "Lost in Translation" but we're hoping to hear soon that our dossier has gone to the Consulate. I'll let you know when that happens. It should be very soon. (Then we just wait 2 more months until the dossier goes to Kaz and then several months for our region assignment and then two or three more months until travel!) It's going to be a long wait.

Last weekend, we visited Alison & Jeromy and had a blast with Zanna and Moe and Robey. They are a great little (well, medium-sized) family. There were no dull moments, except for Stan and Jeromy growing bored with Alison and I devoting all our time to scrapbooking.

I am putting together a lifebook. A lifebook is a scrapbook/baby book for an adopted child. It tells the story of the adoption with pictures and journaling and whatnot. We will read it over and over to our Youngling so that his adoption story is never a surprise to him.

Alison helped me get the lifebook going. Of course, we can't add the photos or the text, but we can get the layout and the "crafting" in place so that all I have to do is drop in the rest. I'm SOOOOOOOO very pleased that we made such great progress. Now I have the itch to keep going and finish it up.

We're still working on the Youngling's room. My internet friend (Julie) who is also in the waiting stage for her Kaz adoption gave me some great advice. She said to take our time on the room, because once these projects are finished, there is nothing left to do but wait. I'm so glad she said that, because my natural tendency is to GO GO GO and finish things right away. I'm especially this way when it comes to household decorating projects. I want to finish and clean up and polish it off. But that's not always the best approach. So, I just keep putting it off and that just gets easier and easier to do. (What kind of weirdo has to coach herself into being a procrastinator? Me!)

Esther, aka the Boober, aka Stinky Moe went to vet on Monday to have her teeth cleaned. The vet has been bugging us to do this for years, but we hated the idea of having her anesthetized. However, we know that this procedure can prevent serious or even fatal illnesses, so we did it. Esther had to spend the day at the vet's, but she came home and seems pretty normal now. She has been sleeping A LOT but that's normal. When they did a cleaning, they found a cavity and had to pull her tooth. Poor little Boober.

Someone I know heard me talking about this and, although she did not come right out and say it, I think she considered our actions foolish and over-indulgent for a cat. I cannot tell you how I despise this kind of thought. Stan and I firmly believe in our commitment to Esther. We have adopted her, just as we have adopted each other, and just as we will adopt a baby. Esther is ours forever, and it is our obligation to do what is best for her. If we weren't interested in taking care of her, we should not have brought her into our home. I get really mad at people like this, and at the same time, I feel very sorry for them. If she ever loved a pet, she would understand.

Anywho, I'll try to post more often, but this is harder to do in the spring than it is in the winter. Keep watching the timeline and hopefully we'll be at the Consulate soon!

Hola Amiga!!! I love Alison's excuse photo. If only all parents took time to nourish their children's individuality rather than impose their own individual-ism the world would be a better place. I know you are a nourisher -- word? -- and will make the world better with your baby steps towards family-ism :-)
