An OU Baby (not OUR baby)
We are still in total shock and just cannot believe that this is happening. So far, we are still hoping to travel in 4-6 weeks. There is SO MUCH to do!!
Tomorrow, we are running all over town to accomplish several things -- least of which is celebrate my 36th birthday (we'll probably eat lunch somewhere fun). More importantly, we're going to get fingerprinted for the ???th time this year. We've done this so many times that the fingerprinting man actually recognizes us. We also have to go to the doctor (to make sure once and for all that we do NOT have leprosy or any other diseases). We will also go to CVS for flu shots and visa photos. Finally, we have to take our laptop to the Geek Squad to find out why it won't talk to free wi-fi in airports and coffee shops and Kazakh internet cafes.
If you know me personally, you probably know that I'm a fairly smart gal but with a strong streak of ditsy-ness. Well, ever since we got "the call," my ditsy streak has become a mile wide. I nearly broke into tears the other night when I screwed something up for the millionth time. I just keep dropping the ball!
Sunday was our annual Browns Game get together, and I forgot 6 of the 8 things I was supposed to bring to the tailgating party. Needless to say, we ate bratwurst sandwiches with NOTHING on them. (No mustard, no onions, etc.) This is very bad.
As you can imagine, this severe brain malfunction has made my work life very difficult. I just want to "check out" every day around 2:00. Thank goodness for Thanksgiving weekend. I will be very happy to have a few more days off before we go.

Welcome to motherhood! It's begun. hah Seriously, I wish you the best during this exciting time. Susan from Austin smooretexan@gmail.com
Once again, congratulations! and I thought the brat's at the Browns game were delicious the way they were :) if you ever need someone to "embrace the being awake thing" remember there is a reason family lives so close together :)
Listen, at this stage of "pregnancy" most mommies-to-be can't remember anything because all the blood in their body is passing the brain and going straight to the uterus. It's the same for adoptive parents, right? It's just that instead of heading toward the uterus all the blood in your body bypasses the brain and goes straight to the heart. Either way, it's new-mommy-brain, for sure.... :) And by the way, it never gets any better. This is the new you. Embrace it. :)
Oh, yay, you have BABY BRAIN already!!! Remember when you wrote me that you were looking forward to it? :)
Happy Birthday!! What a wonderful day it is this year.
